Who is VenCERT
VenCERT
Known as the National System of Telematic Incident Management, VenCERT is the Venezuelan Bolivarian Government CSIRT. As a unit into the Electronic Certification Services Superintendency (Superintendencia de Servicios de Certificación Electrónica - SUSCERTE) its objective as Government CERT is to coordinate all the efforts in matter of prevention, detection and management of telematic and computational incidents which affect the Critical Infrastructures and Information Systems in the Public Administration Institutions of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Its creation is established through Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela No. 39.056 dated 11 November 2008, Resolution No. 063, and going to respond the strategic need to provide the State with the most appropriate mechanisms to prevent and act effectively to new risks generated by the development of new technologies. In fact, the security of information systems and networks for the Public Sector is a key component of the security of a country.
Mission
- Prevention, detection and management of incidents involving the Information Systems of the State and National Critical Infrastructures (NCI).
- Main Point for National Coordination with another CSIRT at the Country and abroad.
- Advice, support and training in matter of information security to different Institutions responsible for IT resources of the State and NCI.
- Coordination of public and private initiatives relating to IT Security in the State, through R&D projects, training and awareness, development of policy or guidelines, both for the benefit of the community (State and NCI) and for improving the services provided in VenCERT.
Vision
To be the National reference institution in Treatment and Management for Telematic Incident Resolution within the scope of their Constituency into the National Public Administration; and whose services can protect and guarantee the defense and security of the Nation and the supreme vigilance of the general interests of the Bolivarian Republic, the preservation of public peace and the proper enforcement of the law throughout the national territory, under the powers provided in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the National Public Power.
